I miss blogging!

It's been exactly one year since my last post. I've been slacking for so long, I thought I should get back to blogging. Wanted to document my 'make-up' journey and also bits and pieces of my life, so that one day when I look back...at least I know where have I spent all my money..LOL.

Been thinking of doing this post about showdown between 3 BB creams that I have thought of buying after reading Haru's post about non-Korean BB creams, you can take a look here.

My bff advised me to get a sample of each brand to try before purchasing the full sized item. The 3 brands are Dior, Biotherm and Clinique.

From L-R: Diorsnow (3ml), Biotherm White D-tox (5ml), Clinique (teensy bit- they didn't have a sample size, so they gave me some of the BB cream in the mini container that you see above)

The samples

Swatches, from top left (clockwise), Clinique, Dior & Biotherm. Please pardon my freckled hand >_<

My bff, who's a fan of Dior kept persuading me to get Diorsnow but I resisted the urge, as I need to try out all before deciding.

My verdict after trying out all 3? As below..

Dior: Not too heavy, quite liquidy in texture, easy to blend and not too oily. After applying it in the morning, I topped it off with MAC loose powder and I only need to blot maybe after lunch time.

Biotherm: Almost same texture as Dior but lighter in colour. Easy to blend as well. Almost the same staying power as Dior. I would say the coverage is lesser than Dior.

Clinique: Texture is creamier, not so easily blended. Felt a bit dry but made my face oily in shorter span of time as compared to Dior and Biotherm. Coverage is so-so, not very fantastic and colour is very light as well. Perhaps this came in the mini container and caused it to be exposed to air easily, the cream was dried up after one week. Boo.

Overall, I would say Clinique is out of the race, it's a tie between Dior and Biotherm. Dior is definitely on the higher price side..I'm still undecided on which one I should get. Currently I'm using Skin79 and Cybercolor BB creams but finishing soon. Shall update once I've decided on which one to get!

NOTW Etude House Petit Darling Nails BL505

Another week another nail colour =)

This time it's the Etude House Petit Darling Nails in BL505.
Taken with flash. It's a little streaky on the second coat.

BL505

I thought the colour itself was a little plain and added a little glitter to it.
o2 Skin Glitter Nail Polish

This is how it looks with the glitter

What do you think? Better or worse?

Have a nice week ahead!

NOTD: Etude House Petit Darling Nails in PK005

Tested the Etude House Petit Darling Nails in PK005.
I would describe it as a rose pink shade? I'm not really good at naming colours, I only know the basic ones. *embarrassed*

Etude House Haul

I was bitten by the Etude House bug in July and got some stuff there. Pity my purse..

My collective haul
Bought the LUCIDarling Fantastic Gradation Eyes in #1 Gradate Pinky Silver
I love pink but this is my first eye shadow palette in pink!

Shot without flash. Clockwise from top left, base in a light pink-white shade, liner in black with shimmer, highlighter in silver and the main shade which is a lovely pink. It came in a pallete with mirror, 1 sponge brush and a mini eyeshadow brush.

Shot with flash.

The back of the palette has the graphic instruction on how to apply the different colors. Nice touch!

Also got a Multi Eye Shadow Brush. It's got a unique shape as compared to the eye shadow brushes I already own, so this is a good addition.

I always buy fake lashes but I only use them on special occassions. I don't know why? This is Etude House lashes in Vivid long.

Some nail polishes. This shot below is with flash. 2 bottles of Petit Darling Nails & a bottle of Dear Darling Nails.

The colors from left: PK005, 24, and BL505.

Etude House in Singapore is the only cosmetics brand that I know of, that gives you a sample as soon as you step into their shop. It doesn't matter even if you are browsing without buying. But I did get the below freebies after buying those stuff above.
Total Age Repair Royal Essence sachet, a cute pen, a mini Precious Mineral BB Cream (that can be hooked on to your phone/keychain/etc) and mini bottles of O2 White toner and lotion.

Look how cute is this mini BB cream?

Some details on the BB cream:

I've not started using any of the above stuff yet, because I have too many things that I bought and kept and totally forgot about! =/
One last look at the cutie free pen =)

Magazine Freebie & Simple Review of Etude House Cleansing Foam

Cleo August issue comes with a free Nuxe Aroma-Perfection Purifying Cleansing Gel.
Lady Gaga was on the cover
200ml bottle with a pump nozzle

It is suitable for combination and oily skin (that's my type of skin!)
I've used this for a couple of times and the result is ok. Not too fantastic as my face does get oily after awhile, albeit not as oily as usual.
-----------------------------------

Just wanted to do a simple review on the below cleanser as well.
Etude House Happy Teatime Cleansing Foam in Green Tea
After using this cleanser for a couple of weeks, i find that it really helps to control my skin's oil and sebum production. Eventhough it is not a high end brand, the result is really good. It smells great, something like a lemon-y type of smell, instead of green tea. It foams easily when lathered with water. After washing, my face feels clean and not too dry. If comparing this with the Clarins Cleansing Foam with Cottonseed, i would say this is the better choice. Another plus is that it is not too pricey. I think it is below SGD20.
Anyway, for the past week, my face feels smoother. I was thinking that it might be the effect of using the 2 below samples from Clarins:
Clarins Multi-Active Day (Early wrinkle correction cream-gel)

Clarins Multi-Active Skin Renewal Serum

I'm not sure what are the retail prices but i'm guessing it can be around SGD100? Still considering if i should get one of it..hmmm...

Thanks for reading!

Paul & Joe Haul

My first official haul from Paul & Joe!
Lip Gloss N with Eye Color

Closer look

Eye Color in 10, a pink base with shimmers. Taken with flash.

Eye Color in 11, a yellow base. Taken with flash.

Swatches under flash.

Swatches under natural sun light. Pink eyeshadow on the left and yellow on the right. Lip gloss is a clear gloss with pink shimmers.

Top up with a Protective Dual Powder Foundation UV for the freebies =)
I love the casing. It's so pretty!

It has SPF 20 PA++ and the SA recommended color 20 for me. Oops, i forgot to swatch it.

Freebies! Clockwise from top left: Deep Cleansing Milk samples, a mini bottle of Cleansing Milk N, Creamy Compact Powder Foundation and Moisturising Foundation Primer samples. Not forgetting 2 pouches with the Summer Collection prints.

This sample looks interesting. It's a creamy foundation that turns to powder upon application.
I was a little worried it might clog my pores but the SA assured me it wouldn't.

The sample came with a mini sponge. Lovely!

Sasa Mini Haul

This is an overdue post because this haul was back in May! Just a tiny buy from Sasa.
Clockwise from left: Beauty Talk Collagen Mask, Sheet Mask, Dodo Tip Shadow and Bio-essence Sparkling Lift Eye Mask
Cheap eye mask from a local Singapore brand, Bio-essence

I can't remember how was the effect though. Haha..Sorry! I can still say The Face Shop eye mask is the best!

Dodo Tip Shadow in light purple

Has a tip which dips into the cover which is filled with the product.

Can you see the shadow in there?

Closes with a screw mechanism

Without flash

Looks a bit greyish. Not the best color pay-off i would say. =(

Got a freebie. Princesse Marina De Bourbon fragrance sample.

On a side note, Female magazine came free with a Versus fragrance sample and a Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer (sample sized). I'm not sure if this is the correct product name. I just read it from the photo, I dunno where i placed the product itself.

Have a good week ahead!
